Double page spread research- different formats

Each double page spread includes positioning of a variety of images and text. There are many different ways in which double page spreads are compositioned. For example here are a few images of a variety of different double page spreads:

I have noticed that most double page spreads include:
Name and quote
Main image
Smaller images
Title and introduction
Main article
Extras ( e.g. Information about next weeks magazine topics)

Looking at the three images of double page spreads above, it appears to me that most double page spreads include a large image of a model on the left or right hand side of one of the pages and the text is then on the opposite side. Personally I think that this is an appealing layout, because it is clear and isn't overpowering because the text is not all over the page and it is in columns and the large image adds a bright and exciting vibe to the page. Each spread also includes a form of contrasting text for example, the first and second image both include large typography on the titles placed at the top of the pages and the third spread includes a large 'S' letter. In comparison to the rest of the small text these features stand out. I think that the most important thing to include on a successful double page stead is a large image that is relevant to the story.
